One World
The last week has been plagued with strange and disturbing dreams. I listen to the news every morning on my way to work and hear stories of horror and tragedy from around the world; the earth itself rising in anger to reclaim it from the hands of destructive primates, and I can’t help but despair for our race. And yet, with the press of a button, or a few keystrokes and mouse clicks, my spirits are raised. I spent the morning listening to some Bob Marley, and tracks from playingforchange.com, and am reminded that we are all one people of one world.
I am struck by the power of the words “…as a human race we need to transcend from the darkness to the light and music is our weapon of the future.” The spirit of Bob Marley lives on indeed. I am grateful for the people and things I have in my life that serve to enrich it and make it all worthwhile. And I will always find solace in the beauty of music. I look at those I love and am filled with Hope that I can leave behind a slightly better world than the one I was born into, if nothing else, so that they too can do the same for those they love. If you are reading this, find someone you love as a human being, and give them a hug. Spread a little of the basic love and compassion we are all born with as humanity. And never forget to hope for a brighter tomorrow.

Incredible as it may seem, many Christians today believe that a god created the universe approximately 6000 years ago. That means that everything in it, planets, stars, moons, comets, and even light itself, must have originated at the time (or after) the Great Creation. Consider that no energy or matter in the universe can travel faster than the speed of light. If you take the speed-of-light back in time 6000 years to the point of the alleged Creation, you get a spherical radius of only around 6000 light-years. This means that a 12,000 diameter light-year bubble represents everything that could possibly happen or exist within the time range of Christian chronology. Consider that the entire Christian universe cannot measure larger than a single average galaxy in the known universe! The miniscule Christian universe would sit as a tiny dwarf within a single galaxy such as the Andromeda galaxy (shown above). Astronomers estimate that hundreds of billions of galaxies exist in the universe. Each of these galaxies could contain hundreds of Christian-sized universes!

Ok, I know I’ve said we shouldn’t reinforce the behavior of “celebrity” train-wrecks, and especially not the attention such behavior gets from Western Media outlets, but this one made me giggle….hard.
I’m not a violent man…
…but if I hear one more joke about Godzilla or Pearl Harbor 2.0 I am going to fucking punch someone. What happened in Japan this past week is a tragedy and horrific event in the course of human history. See that part right there? Human history. To claim even a shred of humanity infers you are capable of compassion for the suffering of others. Thousands upon thousands of people are dead, dying, or grieving over lost loved ones. Have some goddamn class. Fuck Charlie Sheen. Fuck Lindsy Lohan. Real shit happens and its time people take a step back and think about whats important, and take a goddamn minute to just be a decent human being. No matter what your position in life, your ethnicity, your income level, or theological beliefs, we should all just be thankful to be alive. I for one am grateful for everything and everyone I’ve ever been blessed by the Universe to have in my life, and my heart goes out to those that have lost theirs.

There are people who have said that i’m being brave for being openly supportive of gay marriage, gay adoption, basically of gay rights but with all due respect I humbly dissent, i’m not being brave, i’m being a decent human being. And I don’t think I should receive an award for that or for merely stating what I believe to be true, that love is a human experience not a political statement, however, I acknowledge that sadly we live in a world where not everybody feels the same. My family and I will help the good fight continue until that long awaited moment arrives, when our rights are equal and when the political limits on love have been smashed.

Well Damn.. Part Deux
It has been hell of a week… I can’t remember the last time I had an entire week as excellent as this last one has been: Great times celebrating my dearest friend’s birthday, spending time with the new love of my life and her wonderful kids, my daughter cutting her bangs off and trying to blame it on the shower (pure 100% not from concentrate cuteness right there), FINALLY getting her mother to agree to swap our custody arrangement (which means I get to spend ALOT more time with my beloved little girl), one hell of a positive work week, a dinner with the lady and her kids, a night just hanging out and shooting the shit with my really cool little brother, and yet another great weekend to look forward to. Screw you negativity, I’ve got a new groove to work with.
If you’re reading this, take a moment to just breathe and think about all the positives you do have, despite the Universal flow of negativity. And always remember to Smile. :)
